A thought for future enhancement…..the ability to countdown weekdays only i.e. remove weekends from the count.
In addition to bruckley, how about adding weeks to the countdown (optionally), I’d prefer to have something like 11 weeks, 1 day til christmas
Hi
I installed your Count Down gadget and I have one question.
I’m looking for gadget that will be counting up time (especially days, but hours could be too).
I completly have no idea how to make Vista gadgets, so here is my question: could you make a gadget, which will count up time that have passed since a event.
PS
It will be great, if that gadget will be looking nearly exactly the same as
Count Down gadget.
How about the ability to count up. It would be very helpful to be able to count up the number of days. i.e. reminder to check something after XX days has past.
Really useful addition to my sidebar, thank you.
I second the request for a ‘x weeks, x days’ smart countdown option. Looking forward to 2.0!
Possible to create your own theme? Background images, color, fonts, etc. Also to change the time format from 24HR to 12HR?
If you added the workday option (which would be great), then it would also be nice to be able to edit what time the workday begins/ends. Also, lunch breaks and company holidays.
I would love to see an option to make the text black. Thanks!
Excellent gadget.
Countup-Countdown Gadget might be a good name. (I’d keep the name descriptive so people can find it on Google.)
It’s working great on my Widnows 7 desktop.
The other comments all sound good–obviously more control over color and function makes the gadget more adaptable, and therefor more attractive for folks with various uses in mind.
A suggestion of my own: it might be nice to have the option of showing a percentage reflecting how far from start date to endate the countdown has progressed. (I’m counting the days before I leave the Persian Gulf and head back home for a long vacation, and seeing how much lies behind might be even more cheering sometimes than seeing how much lies ahead.) The two in combination would be best of all. And I suspect that folks working through a project, personal or professional, might find a percentage more meaningful sometimes, particularly when the project has been planned informally: the gadget might push a procrastinator to get the lead out.
Anyway, thanks!
Nathan
Works Great, have been looking for this exact item.
Great little utility – works very well!
Well since you appear to have ignored my email, I thought I’d comment on your excellent and simple to use gadget, and about the changes I’d like to see for it to have some true value to me.
Firstly, I love it, I’ve looked about for ages for one that did what I wanted and yours came the closest, which leads me onto what needs to change!
I use it to count down loan payments, mortgage payments etc etc so the lack of month ability really limits it’s usefulness to me, added to that, some payments run from certain dates (for instance in the UK council tax starts in April and runs for 10 months) so it would be good to have a start date, number of payments and a reoccuring options. So for simple loan payments you could set payment date of 10/10/09 for 60 months and the countdown would drop to 59 after that date each month after the start date….
Anyway keep up the good work

Love the countdown gadget. Works great for me. For future enhancement, it would be nice if it would count down work days.

Hello, I try your countdown gadget on Windows 7 but it doesn’t work :s. Waiting for your update!!!!!
Hi, I was wondering if it can work as a tracker in reverse instead of just counting down. I would like it if we can have it count the days that past also so I can keep track of how long I have been with my girlfriend ^_^. Hope this can be implemented in the future.
Hello, when I try to set the time and date from which i want the gadget to countdown to, it doesnt bring up a timer, it only says “Finished!” and it stays that way after i set the time and date and also after restarting it.
Very nice! It would be wonderful if it would display “years”. Some events are a long way off (think: retirement
Any more news yet on the new version? I did drop an email concerning testing but heard nothing.

Your gadget is AWESOME, I’m waiting for the new release compatible with windows 7. The countdown is really useful for me. Please send me an e-mail when new gadget is ready for downloading if it’s possible. One question please, can I install Count Down Gadget v1.3.1 in windows 7???
Im waiting for ebuyer to deliver my Christmas prese!!!
60 hours to go
What a wonderful gadget.
Even without a weekday-only countdown which I’d love, it’s still one of the most useful tools on the desktop. Thanks.
Hi, great tool!! BUT there’s a problem with months!
If you set it lower then 11, left hours are -1. I have searched through the code, but havent found the reason.
This is wonderful; however, how can I get it to remember the dates and settings that I set when I close the gadget? Is it possible? It’d be really nice to do for counting down to a date many days from the starting time or something like that. Thanks!
Using v1.3.1 on Windows 7 and it works a treat

I love this countdown gadget’s simplicity and compact size. I prefer the calendar skin, but would like the ability to chose a background color rather than orange. (I use a variation on the original Microsoft calendar gadget that has a white background with a copper colored top instead of orange.) The only other thing I would like added is to be able to customize the final message when the countdown is complete. “FINISHED” doesn’t quite work for me. These are not major complaints. I think overall this is the best countdown gadget available.
I like this gadget a lot. Can’t wait for the new DL that includes customizable times or dates
Thanks for ALL of your HARD WORK…!

I would like to be able to have two seperate countdowns on the gadget…
